I would have died for you a thousand deaths over (and you know, coming from me, that's not an exaggeration), except you'd never let me. Out my window the moon stares down, glowing like a bright yolk floating in starless darkness. Back inside, behind the dusty metal screen and cracked window glass I lay on my bed at 1:52 A.M., eyes and mind wide awake, sweat soaking slowly into my night dress, the heat of summer nights as unforgiving as my thoughts. In the lone silence, I hear a thumping, faint but steady. I followed the sound with my eyes only to find something throbbing in my grasp--- a heart; its arteries live and connected to a dark void in my chest. -A.M.S.

Last month I found another dead end, and sent a letter with the exact description of its depth to the central ministry of personal wayfinding to apply for a refund. They are still examining the case – there might be another opening that can't be seen with naked eyes. I'm no longer sure if I'm still capable of dressing them in dreams and visions Sometimes I'm so tired that the only thing I remember is how to close them. But maybe closed eyes are a precondition for getting past blind alleys.

"I mean, it IS a given, people can be reeeally... Mean-" At this, he cut in, "Correction: People are not "mean", People are "CRUEL". "Well, yeah. You're right." I agreed, slightly dumbfounded that a man who was putting up a pedantic air moments ago suddenly seemed to have no qualms about sounding more direct and aggressive than his interviewee. After a few more agreements on the cruel-yet-interesting nature of people, thrown in with brief discussions about overly reliant youngsters and people who smile eeriely like stressed dogs, he concluded... "I guess that's it. I'll follow you up regarding the state of your main concern as soon as I can. As for you, I don't think there's any need for me to keep you in this interview." "Thank you very much, Sir." I smiled and gathered my things. As I left the room, I thought "So his understanding of a person who has "no need of counseling" is someone who can blatantly admit that humans are
